UCLA Bruins Target DJ Tubbs to Boost 2028 Wide Receiver Room

The UCLA Bruins are looking to start building their 2028 wide receiver room with a recent visit from top prospect DJ Tubbs. Bob Chesney, the Bruins' recruiting coordinator, has already built one of the best wide receiver rooms in the country for the 2027 high school class. The Bruins' 2027 recruiting class includes top commit Juju Johnson, a five-star cornerback, as well as four wide receivers, including four-star recruits Matthew Gregory and Kingston Kliefe. With the 2027 class complete, Chesney has shifted his attention to the 2028 class, with Tubbs as his top priority. Tubbs, who stands at 5-10 and 175 pounds, makes up for his lack of height with a strong route-running technique and speed. He can play anywhere on the field, whether on the outside or in the slot, and can run any route. Tubbs visited UCLA on June 16 for an unofficial visit, but the Bruins will need to fend off in-state rivals USC and Cal to land him. USC, led by elite recruiter Lincoln Riley, and Cal, which has been quietly building a strong recruiting class, are also vying for Tubbs' services. The Bruins will need to make a strong impression on Tubbs to convince him to join their program. With his skills and technique, Tubbs could thrive in the UCLA offense. The Bruins' recruiting efforts are ongoing, with a focus on building a strong 2028 class. Tubbs' visit to UCLA is a significant step in this process, and the Bruins are hoping to land him as a key part of their 2028 wide receiver room.
